1. Roller Skating
When was the last time you put on a pair of roller skates? Jump start your fitness journey AT HOME with a pair of roller skates, space and opportunity! Roller skating improves your heart health, strengthens your leg and core muscles, increases your balance, flexibility and agility.
STEP1: Clear out some space in your garage, get ready to skate around the house or take your skates outside. If you have wooden, tile or cement flooring, move your coffee table over and prepare to skate around the room. Outdoor roller skates or roller blades are also perfect if you want to skate around your neighborhood or home.
Step2: Buy your skates! The options are endless! Get excited about colors and styles of skates for women, men and children. I purchased my favorite indoor and outdoor skates on Amazon and they are perfect for skating at home on a wooden floor, in my garage and around my neighborhood.
Step3: You may need knee pads, elbow pads and a helmet to protect yourself if you fall. Take it very slow and be very careful if you are new to skating. Over time your childhood skate memories will slowly return and you will master this with consistency.
Step4: Follow skate groups, skate blogs, vlogs, and social media posts about skating. I was surprised to see how many skaters there were in my area. The skate community is dramatically growing and options for skate techniques, tricks and styles are endless and so much fun to learn.
Step5: Get dressed up and have fun with developing your new skater style. Retro skate gear is everywhere!!! Create your own skate look and have fun with it. I you needed a reason to wear a bucket hat, bell bottoms and retro sun glasses.... THIS IS IT! Don't forget to grab a convenient storage bag for your skates. This will come in handy.
Step6: Don't forget to record your progress and keep track of your fitness goals! I wear my apple watch to keep track of the calories that I burn while skating. Have fun, stay fit, and live life to the fullest!
Believe it or not......pole dancing is one of the hottest workouts ON THE PLANET! Jump start your fitness journey in the privacy of your OWN HOME with a pole! I have been training with pole dance fitness for the last 2 years and it has truly whipped my body into tip top shape! Pole dancing tones your entire body, increases flexibility and challenges your mind, body and soul.
STEP1: Clear out some space in your garage, bedroom, or the middle of your living room. You need a space of 4 feet radius from the center of your dance pole as a recommended bare minimum for a home dance pole. You can have fun adding, lights, decor and any extra pizazz to your pole space now or later!
Step2: Buy your home pole! There are several options for affordable home dance poles that are extremely easy to install at home. Chrome and Stainless-steel pole are always the most common pole finish and if you plan on training in a pole studio, I recommend starting with one of these options. Silicone poles are good options if you only plan on training at home and want to have the option to pole dance with clothes on versus skin-to-skin contact.
Step3: You need pole grip and rubbing alcohol. Alcohol plus water in a spray bottle will be used to clean your pole, and grip is to help keep you from slipping and sliding down the pole. You will build your grip strength up over time. Grip It and Dry Hands are my favorite pole grips and can be used together. Take it very slow and be very careful. Over time you will develop your favorite pole fitness style while toning your body and burning lots of calories.
Step4: Follow pole groups, virtual pole fitness classes, pole fitness blogs, vlogs, and social media posts about pole dance fitness. The pole community is dramatically growing and options for pole techniques, tricks and styles are endless and so much fun to learn.
Step5: Get a few pole outfits! The options are endless and you can go from sporty to sexy to comfy! Just remember the more clothing you have on, the harder it is to stay on the pole. Skin-to-skin contact is recommended. Finally, you'll want to turn up the music & have fun with developing your new pole dance fitness style. Pole gear and pole songs are both on trend! You can even create your own look, style, and vibe and just have so much fun with it!
Step6: Don't forget to record your progress and keep track of your fitness goals! I try to wear my apple watch to keep track of the calories that I burn while poling! Have fun, stay fit, and live life to the fullest!
